Clean Paver Patio and Low-Maintenance Backyard Done Right

Sometimes a backyard just needs a clear plan - not a massive overhaul. This one had good bones already. Existing shrubs, mature trees, a wood fence, a deck with black iron railing. What it was missing was a real place to sit and use the space. No patio, no defined beds, just lawn running up to everything.

We installed a large format paver patio with a contrasting brick border to give it a clean, finished edge. That border detail matters more than people realize. It keeps the eye moving in the right direction and makes the whole surface look intentional instead of just plopped down in the yard.

The beds around the perimeter got fresh mulch and decorative rock to cut down on maintenance. Instead of fighting weeds in bare dirt year after year, the beds are now covered and defined. The natural boulders along the house foundation were worked right into the design - no need to remove them, they actually add character when they have a clean mulch bed framing them.

We're big on the idea that the details around a main project are just as important as the project itself. A patio surrounded by messy, undefined beds still looks unfinished. Get the beds right, clean up the edges, and the whole yard reads as intentional. That's what we were going for here - and that's what we got.

The before shows a yard with decent grass and some plantings, but nothing pulling it together. The after has a usable hardscape surface, tidy landscaping beds, and a backyard that actually makes sense to spend time in. Clean, low-maintenance, and built to last.
