A lot of backyards we work in have the same core problems - sloped ground that's hard to use, grass that's a constant headache to maintain, and outdoor spaces that just go dark after sunset. These are solvable problems. And when you tackle all of them together, the results speak for themselves.
Retaining walls do a lot of heavy lifting. Whether we're working with large natural boulders stacked along a curved hillside or precision-set segmental block walls with built-in steps, the goal is always the same - hold the ground, define the space, and give you something that actually looks good doing it. The block wall with integrated stair steps shows how much thought goes into the details, from the gravel base to the drainage fabric laid behind the wall before backfill ever goes in. That's the part most people never see, but it's what makes a wall last.
Pair a solid wall with artificial turf and you've got a backyard that's genuinely easy to live in. No mowing, no watering, no muddy patches. The turf runs cleanly along the base of the boulder wall and wraps around toward the deck, giving the whole space a finished, intentional look. It's a big upgrade from fighting a hillside lawn that never quite grows right anyway.
Then there's the lighting. Low-profile fixtures set directly into the face of a block retaining wall change how a space feels at dusk. The warm glow running along that wall at ground level adds depth and makes the whole yard usable well into the evening - without being overdone or flashy about it.
Every one of these upgrades - walls, turf, lighting - works on its own. But when they come together in the same yard, you end up with something that's both functional and genuinely polished. That's what we're going for on every job.
